Want more than just badges? Introducing…Fan Club!

25 Jun

It’s officially summertime and that makes us happy. We want to make you happy too, so we’ve been creating some new cool stuff for avid fans of shows. We’re partnering with networks to create deeper experiences and give users more than just a badge for checking in to their shows. For the avid fans, you should have access to something more — well now you can with the Fan Club.

We’ve partnered with TNT to create a Fan Club for the third season of their popular show, Leverage. All you have to do is check-in to Leverage on your iPhone or iPad, like you would for any show. After a certain number of check-ins (somewhere between 1 and 1,000,000), you’ll unlock the Fan Club! YEAAA! You can’t game the system — sorry. You’ll have to be a true fan by checking in, week after week.

Once you’ve unlocked the Fan Club, you’ll have access to it from the show’s check-in page. In the video below you can see the top corner peels back to reveal the Fan Club icon. Click and you’re in!

So what do you get?
The Fan Club comes with additional content related to the show. This content may include photos, video clips, fun facts, quizzes, games, and more. Different shows will have different clubs. You can watch and interact with this content on all platforms — web, iPhone, and iPad. By checking-in to Leverage every week you will unlock more and more content. Right now, the Fan Club exists for Leverage since they are our launch partner but more Fan Clubs will be coming over time. If you are a content site or a network, please feel free to contact us at partners@gomiso.com.

So you’re a Leverage fan and want to get access?
Well, start checking in to Leverage on TNT Sundays 9/8c on the web starting this Sunday. It will first launch on the web and will exist on the iPhone and iPad on the next update! Sorry, if you checked in that past, doesn’t count.

Did we mention you also get exclusive Leverage badges for checking-in to the Season 3? Here’s a preview:

This is great. I’d love to see other shows broken out into seasons like Leverage is. That way, you can better tell if someone is watching current episodes or watching a previous season on DVD.

I’m also anxiously awaiting an Android app, even though the mobile web page functions very nicely.

Thanks for the comment and for using Miso! Both of those things (episode/season breakdown and android app) are on our roadmap! We’re working as fast as we can, so stayed tuned…

So do I have to actuall check in at the exact time the show is airing…?! Or can I just as well watch it on my DVR later or via iTunes and check in then…?!

I mean, I know that I can check in any time of course, but do I still get to be in the Fan Club then…?

Hi Mile – You can check in anytime to get credit towards the Fan Club! But we do try to prevent people from gaming the system so you can’t just check-in 3x in a row either! :)

Well, I did check in White watching the first episode of season 3 from iTunes — but I didn’t get any kind of Fan Club confirmation…!?

I did get like a regular point or something, just like I would for any other show — but nowhere was there any mention of having unlocked Fan Club access or anything…!? Am I missing something here…?

      • MILE June 30, 2010 at 5:50 pm #

Okay, sorry — my mistake…! I just read it again and it says “After a certain number of check-ins (somewhere between 1 and 1,000,000), you’ll unlock the Fan Club!”

So I guess I’ll just have to keep watching and checking in…!? :)

P.S. Checking in would be even more fun if that iPad app finally showed up in the App Store…! ;)

I hope that in the future other shows can have a fan page.
