Do you want to win a brand new iPad 2 and have your awesome new app featured by Miso?
We are just finishing up Miso’s public API — full documentation at gomiso.com/developers – and to celebrate we’re launching our first Developer Contest.
The objective is simple: Build an awesome app using the Miso API.
To get the ideas flowing, here are some things that we think would be pretty cool (by the way, a lot of these have been requested by our users).
- Miso for new platforms like Blackberry and Windows Phone 7
- A social TV guide based based on what your friends watch
- Tracking apps to tell you which episodes you haven’t seen yet
- Sweet data visualizations of your watching history or trending shows over time
- Automatic check-ins to Miso while watching via Netflix, Boxee, Plex, etc.
- Notifications of when the shows you follow are available for streaming via Netflix or similar service
…And we’re pretty confident that you will think of even more great ideas.
THE DETAILS
How to submit an app: To get started please sign-up here. For questions that aren’t addressed below, please visit our developer forum or shoot an email to api@gomiso.com.
Length: 6 weeks
Judging: Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges which will include Miso employees, investors, and advisers. Apps will be evaluated based on creativity, value and appeal, and technical achievement.
Prizes:
- All complete app submissions will get a Miso T-shirt and sticker.
- One overall winner will receive a new iPad 2 and app will be featured on Miso.
- Depending on number of submissions, we may select runners-up for different categories. These runners-up will also have their apps featured on Miso.
Rules:
- The application must leverage Miso’s API.
- Submissions must be made by May 12, 2011 at 12 noon PST; Miso reserves the right to extend this deadline at its discretion.
- Developers must be 18 or older to be eligible for prize.
- One prize will be awarded for the winning submission (per group, not per developer).
- Winners will be notified via the email address submitted on the registration form, and they must respond in writing to accept the prize within fourteen (14) days or another winner will be chosen.
- Any third party software or accounts required for the operation of your application shall be provided by you in accordance with all applicable laws; Miso will not purchase software to test applications.
- Developers must adhere to the Miso API Rules of Use.
Good luck!

Great idea!
BTW, there is a bad link on “Miso API Rules of Use”.
The link seems to be working fine now. I think it was just a temporary issue?
Are you going to be building an app? :)
I’m thinking of it.
